Through its geographical position in the heart of the Alpine Arc, the Hautes-Alpes has what it takes to fulfil every mountain wish. The high altitude means there is heavy snow, and its proximity to the south guarantees generous sunshine.
The Hautes-Alpes has 9 major resorts: Serre Chevalier, Montgenèvre, Puy Saint-Vincent, Vars-Risoul La Forêt Blanche, Les Orres, Orcières Merlette 1850 and SuperDévoluy - La Joue du Loup to which can be added a world freeride spot at La Grave - La Meije.
Numerous naturally charming village resorts are also spread over the Haute-Romanche (Villar d’Arène et Le Chazelet), the Écrins (Pelvoux-Vallouise), the Queyras (Abriès, Saint Véran, Molines, Aiguilles, Ceillac, Ristolas, Arvieux), Serre-Ponçon (Réallon and Crévoux), the Champsaur (Ancelle, Chaillol, Laye, Saint-Léger-les-Mélèzes et Serre-Eyraud) and the Gap area (Céüze).
